Dr Parry has over twenty years involvement with the global plant science community.
Geraint's current primary role is as Executive Officer of the Association of Applied Biologists (AAB). When added to his previous experience this role provides him excellent links throughout both the applied and fundamental plant science communities.
Geraint is the Project manager for the MEMBRA Treescapes project, which is led by Dr Estrella Luna-Diez at the University of Birmingham.
Geraint is the current President of The Global Plant Council. The GPC is a coalition of 27 organisations that represent the views of plant scientists across the globe.
Previously Geraint worked in the UK and the USA as a postdoctoral researcher, university lecturer and manager of a community network. He has personally conducted cutting edge research, led research teams, organised conferences and workshop events and contributed toward the integration of the UK and global plant science communities.
Geraint is qualified as a Practitioner in the PRINCE2 Project Management system and brings this organisation knowledge to any project.

Dr Parry recently worked as GARNet Coordinator so will continue to interact with GARNet leadership team to ensure that the twenty-year legacy of this research network is continued. We hope to obtain funding to continue GARNet activities in the areas of workshop organisation, knowledge exchange and community integration.

Chairman for the Royal Science of Biology Plant Sciences Group
This is a special interest group of the Royal Society of Biology and oversees the plant science content at RSB. This includes involvement in discussions on plant science policy, organisation of events, career planning and curriculum review. Dr Parry chairs the 20 member Advisory committee that meets 4 times each year.

The Global Plant Council (GPC) is a global coalition of plant science research organizations, open to any plant science scientific organization, both research institutions and profesional associations. Unofficially started in 2009, the Council was filed in Switzerland in 2013. Since 2018 it is based in Canada. Presently (Nov 2022) the GPC counts 27 members.
